Yuqian has been developing chatbots (now known as “AI agents”) since 2018, well before the widespread attention on language models. In this talk, Yuqian shares her artworks to inspire new perspectives on how we prompt, direct, and shape AI conversations, exploring how these agents perform fictional personas and even generate novel forms of language expression previously unseen before.
She discusses her background in art and research, and her fascination with AI since encountering Siri. Yuqian explains how her interest in narrative video games inspired her to explore interactive storytelling through AI chatbots. She presents several projects, including "Wonder," an AI chatbot that generates fictional futures based on real-world locations, and "101 Nights," a story crafting game where players interact with an AI king. She also discusses the historical development of her AI projects and the challenges she faced working with early language models. The presentation highlights her focus on creating meaningful connections between the real world and AI-generated content, emphasizing the importance of human input and creativity in AI-driven storytelling.
